NEPA Now / Re: Times Tower Lighting Ceremony

This year's tower lighting was similar to last year's. If you don't have to drive far it's worth a stop at least once.

The 2017 Snow Storm is still possible, it's early in the season yet.

2017-2018 winter is just getting underway we've got plenty of time for a major NEPA snowstorm, nothing but small accumulations so far.

We've got a craft beer festival coming up called the Rhythm and Brews festival. It's happening up at Montage Mountain, here's their events page Upcoming NEPA Beer Events/

This is a cool beer event, these people do a great job mixing the beer and entertainment portion.

I skied Big Bear once. I remember it being a nice hidden gem. But the drive up there was squirrely. They've got quite a few runs, but you don't hear much about this place for some reason.

I haven't been to Elk Mountain in a few seasons. I'm going to make it a point to get up here this year. The ski runs are longer here but the lifts are slower... Still pretty awesome up there.

I see Montage just had their job fair for the season. They're starting to ramp up for the Scranton skiing!!

I second the notion that mid-week skiing up here beats the weekends. One thing to point out though is if you buy a season pass you can cut the lift lines.

Shawnee has multiple high speed lifts which makes this place better than some of the other ski areas. You get more runs per night. The hills here are actually a little shorter then some of the other places up here but the high speed ski lifts more than make up for it.
