Title: How to extend the hoses on an SPT dishwasher
Post by: frailly on January 27, 2016, 09:12AM
Does anyone know how to extend the hoses on an SPT dishwasher? I bought a Sunpentown portable dishwasher from Target in Dickson City and the hoses are a little too short for where I'd like to set it on the counter.

I'm hoping for some king of portable dishwasher hose extension kit or something I can do easily. The people at Target in Dickson said to contact the manufacturer, so that's all I have to go on for now.. Thanks!

Alright, quick update... I called Sunpentown dishwasher company, (or SPT) they told me they don't sell portable dishwasher hose extension kits because the pumps are not designed to pump water over long distances. They also told me that they are aware of customers who have successfully extended their hoses but they don't recommend it.

So that leaves me looking for some advice on lengthening the dishwasher hoses. Any home appliance gurus out there?

You bought the portable dishwasher but the hoses aren't long enough? Do you have any pictures? It seems like you should be able to get longer hoses at a hardware store or appliance store.

I don't think these are the standard dishwasher hoses. The supply and the drain hose go into this device that attaches to the faucet.

This is the back of the portable dishwasher

I need about 4 feet added to the length. Right now it is about 4 feet long. Are there any plumbing supply places in the Dickson City / Scranton area that would carry these?

I'm not an expert, but you can probably extend those hoses using hose barb unions. You can get them at Lowes or Home Depot in Dickson City or down toward Wilkes-Barre.
